Dark Barriss – doplňky
Nátepník
Jelikož jde o kostým z kresleného seriálu, nátepník vypadá jako obarvený, nikoli vrstvený, rozhodla jsem se na kůži vzor namalovat.
Nejprve jsem odměřila rozměry nátepníku na svou ruku a vytvořila si střih/šablonu. Tento tvar jsem přenesla na kůži a vystřihla. Zapínání jsem se rozhodla udělat pomocí cvočků. Odměřila jsem si a označila, kde má každý jednotlivý být a nabila je do kůže.
Vytvořila jsem si šablony malby a béžovou barvou na kůži Terno jsem podle nich vzor na nátepník nakreslila. Ślo o aplikaci světlé barvy na tmavší kůži, takže bylo zapotřebí několik vrstev nátěru.
Pak už chyběl jen komunikátor. Jde o několik kousků plastu o šířce zhruba 0,5 cm zbroušených do požadovaného tvaru a přilepených na sebe – ovál a tři kroužky. Plast je přestříkán na stříbrno metalickou barvou ve spreji. Na kůži je plastový komunikátor přímo přilepen chemoprénem.
Přezka
V případě The Clone Wars je Barrissina přezka zjednodušená. Stejně jako u nátepníků jsem se rozhodla jít metodou malování na kůži. Barvou na kůži jsem namalovala obrazec podle zdrojového obrázku.
Jako základ pro přezku jsem použila svou oblíbenou přezku armády ČR. Stejná přezka slouží jako základ i u mé filmové verze, takže mi stačí pouze vyměnit přezky, aniž bych musela použít jiný opasek (co tím myslím, uvidíte na fotkách níže). Na přezku jsem přilepila stejnou kůži, kterou jsem použila na nátepníky, a kterou jsem předtím namaloval. A bylo hotovo.
Kukla a paruka
Původně jsem pro filmový kostým používala pouze elastickou čelenku a nosila pod kapucou vlasy stažené do drdolu. Pro tuto Barriss jsem tedy musela opatřit paruku. Vybrala jsem si černou střapatou anime paruku. Řešila jsem pouze jak budou vlasy odstávat vzadu na temeni. Styling přední části mě nikterak netížil.
Jakmile jsem měla paruku, jala jsem se šít vlastní kuklu, která by měla navíc „díru“ na temeni, kudy by vyčuhovaly vlasy. Vzala jsem tedy elastickou látku, ze které jsem měla vršek šatů, vystřihla obdélník a sešila ho v rouru.
Vyzkoušela jsem si ji natáhnou přes hlavu s parukou tak, abych jeden otevřený konec měla na krku (ten jsem později ještě trochu zúžila) a druhý konec mi rámoval obličej. Křídou jsem si nakreslila, kde zhruba má být otvor, kterým budou vylézat vlasy.
Podle nakreslených značek jsem pak vystřihla díru. Začala jsem od nejmenší a postupně rozšiřovala, dokud jsem nebyla spokojená. Pak už jsem jen vše začistila. Paruku i tuto kuklu od té doby nosím i pod filmovou Barriss – většinu fanoušků ohromí, když mi náhodou spadne kapuce a oni vidí, že pod ní mám stejný účes jako Barriss v The Clone Wars.
Meče a make-up
Šablonu pro tetování používám tutéž, co mám na filmovou Barriss. Jen vynechávám některé kosočtverce – tetování animované Barriss je jako vše zjednodušené. Make-up rovněž používám stejný, jen přidávám méně make-upu a ponechávám více žluté barvy.
Jako meče používám Hasbro FX Collectibles meče Asajj Ventress.
Dark Barriss – Accessories
Bracer
Because its costume from animated series, I decided to make the pattern by painting it on the leather.
First I measured up my forearm and created the pattern. I transferred it onto the leather and cut it out. As fastening, I decided to use snaps. I measuered where I want them and attached them to the leather.
Then I made patterns to draw regular „V“ signs onto the leather. I used beige leather colour of Terno brand. As it was lighter color and darker leather, I used several coats.
Only thing missing was compad. Its just few pieces of ABS we have left, 0,5 cm thick, which I dremmeled into oval shape and glued onto each other – one oval shaped and three circles. Its then spayed on by metalic silver colour. The compad is glued onto the leather by glue called chemoprén.
Buckle
In The Clone Wars the buckle is simplified. I decided for painting – the same as for bracer. I just painted the picture, based on the reference, on the piece of leather.
As the basis for the buckle I used my favourite buckle used by Czech Army. I used the same one for my film Barriss, so I can just switch the buckles and use the same belt (see how fastening looks on picture belows to understand). I used the same leather as for bracers. I just glued the painted piece onto the buckle.
Head cover and the wig
Originally, for my film version, I used only head band made from elastic fabric. Under the hood I had just my hair in the bun and this head band.
For this Barriss I had to get the wig. I chose some black pointy anime style wig. I didn’t really bother myself with its bangs and with its overall shape. The only thing which mattered to me was to have it spiky at the back.
As soon as the wig arrived, I could make a head cover. I took the same elastic fabric I used for top of Barriss’s dress. I cut out a rectangle and sew it together.
I put on the wig and put on the fabric. One end I had around the neck (later I went on and made it tighter) and one end I had around my face. One part being stratched over my head and one part gathered under my chin and around my neck. I marked the place on the back of my head, where I wanted my hear to be visible.
I cut out the hole according to my marks. I started with a bit smaller hole and widened it until I was satisfied. I hemmed it all and that was it.
Since then I wear this wig and this head cover even with my film version of Barriss. Fans are always so surprised and they so appreciate when my cape accidently fells down and they see I have the hair and head cover as Barriss in The Clone Wars. 😉
Lightsabers and make-up
For tatoos I use the same stencil as for my film version Barriss. I just leave out some of the diamonds as the tatoos are again simplified in The Clone Wars.
I also use the same make-up as for my film version, I just add more yellow color.
I use Hasbro FX Collectibles Asajj Ventress lightsabers.
Rey (Resistance) – vest
To make a vest seems to be so simple… And I already made a vest for my Claire costume, and Jyn costume, so I should be an expert by now. Well, its never so easy with cosplay. So, yes, I’ve learned something from my previous works – its better to start with a mock-up.
As the base for my pattern I used a short light vest I already owned and which fitted me well. I drew it on pattern paper, shortened it and added a colar. I cut the pattern into several parts according to where seams are on the original.
I transferred the patterns onto mock-up fabric, cut them out and sew them together. I adjusted the arm holes, the seams at the back and the length of the middle part – to have the seam in my waste. It was a lot of trying-ons, cutting and ripping. Finaly, when everything fitted, I put the vest on my dressing form and with paper tape I created the pattern for „shoulder pads“.
When I was satisfied with the mock-up, I ripped it apart and created clean patterns.
I transferred my patterns onto the fabric and sew the vest together. At the back and on the sides of collar I had to create somehow the seams with visible stitches Rey has there on the vest. So I didn’t sew those parts together normally, but put a stripe of fabric under the pieces and sewed them onto it. It created a needed gap over which I then hand sew the top cross stitches.
Then I moved to „shoulder pads“. I cut the two pieces of fabrics for each. I sew them together and sew through them as on the original, creating the small tunnels in this way. I cut through the bottom part of each and stuffed them individually with padding. Then I hand sewed the each pad on the shoulders.
Finally I adjusted the collar to the correct shape and size and finished up the lining.
And the only thing to do then was to hand sew the stitches on the edges and to frown the bottom edge.
Rey (Resistence) – vesta
Ušít vestu se zdá být tak jednoduché… A já už šila vestu pro Claire a pro Jyn, takže bych měla být expert. U cosplaye to ale nikdy není tak jednoduché. A tak ano, z předešlých vest jsem se poučila – začala jsem zkušební verzí.
Jako už mnohorkát jsem coby základ pro střih použila vhodný kus svého oblečení, který mi dobře seděl – krátkou lehkou vestičku. Tu jsem obkreslila na střihový papír, upravila její délku a přidala límec. Vzniklý střih jsem rozdělila na několik částí podle toho, kde má Rey na své vestě švy a rozstříhala.
Jednotlivé díly jsem přenesla na cvičnou látku, vystříhla a sešila. Podle potřeby jsem upravila průramky, tvar švů na zadní části a délku středních dílů, aby byl šev správně v pase. Bylo to hodně zkoušení, párání a stříhání. Finálně jsem vestu „oblékla“ na šicí pannu mých proporcí a pomocí papírové pásky vytvořila šablonu pro „ramenní vycpávky“.
Jakmile jsem byla se vším spokojená, znovu jsem cvičnou vestu rozpárala na jednotlivé části a z nich vytvořila čisté střihy.
V případě zadních zaoblených dílů a ramen jsem potřebovala docílit podobného detailu s viditelnými stehy, jako je na originálním kostým, a tak jsem nesešívala normálně, ale díly, které patřily k sobě, jsem založila o přídavek na šev, položila vedle sebe a „podšila“ proužkem stejné látky. Mezi díly tak vznikla drobná podšitá mezírka, kterou jsem dále stáhla ručně šitými stehy. Totéž jsem udělala u bočních švů na límci.
Dalším krokem byly „ramenní vycpávky“. Každou jsem vystřihla dvakrát a sešila. Poté jsem obě vrstvy prošila tak, jako na originálním kostýmu, a tím vytvořila tunýlky pro vycpávací hmotu. Spodní vrstvu každého tunýlku jsem vždy v jednom místě opatrně prostříhla a tunýlek otvorem vycpala. Vše jsem pak ručně přišila na rameno vesty.
Zbývalo už jen doupravit límec do potřebné velikosti a tvaru a celou vestu podšít.
Na závěr přišlo dloooouhé ruční obšívání všech okrajů. Jediný neobšitý okraj je ten spodní, který jsem naopak více roztřepila.
Barriss Offee dress
From practical reasons, I decided to go for dress consisting of two parts from different materials, the upper part and skirt, sewn together. I didn’t want the shirt to slide up The construction of this dress can be seen in the following photo.
For the upper part of the dress I used some pattern for dress we (me and my mum LYA) found in old Burda magazines. The other option I considered was to use some old close fitting long sleeved shirt and create pattern based on it. However, this option would most likely need more stretchy fabric. The dress pattern (with zipper on the back) was thus more suitable for me, as the fabric I used was stretchy only a little. To highlight the difference between stripes of the chest panel and the rest of the upper part of dress, I slightly shifted the fabric so the stripes of panel would not be in line with stripes of the sides.
The bottom part, skirt, is from fabric which drapes nicely. I didn’t use any pattern. For the upper part of skirt I only copied the shape of the skirt I already had (the close fitting tube like skirt with the zipper at the back I use with my Jedi costume) and the bottom part consists of two large half-circles. The waist seam is covered by the belt.
Barriss Offee – šaty
Vzhledem k praktičnosti jsem se rozhodla udělat Barrissiny šaty skutečně jako šaty. I když sešité ze dvou částí ze dvou různých materiálů.
Vrchní část šatů je šita podle střihu na šaty, který jsme s mamkou našly v jednom ze starých časopisů Burda. Zvažovala jsem ale také, že bych udělala střih podle nějakého staršího upnutého trika. Tenhle postup by ale vyžadoval elastický materiál, takže střih na šaty se zipem vzadu byl pro mě lepší možností, protože moje látka byla elastická jen trochu. Abych vizuálně podpořila patrný rozdíl mezi středovým panelem šatů a ostatními částmi, posunula jsem látku středového panelu tak, aby linky pruhů nebyly zarovnané.
Spodní část šatů je šitá bez střihu. Pouze jsem využila kolem boků obebnuté sukně se zipem vzadu, kterou jsem už měla (a nosím ji k jediskému kostýmu), a vytvořila z ní vzor pro část sukně od pasu nad kolena. Spodní část od kolen dolů tvoří kruh a jelikož jsem neměla tak velké množství látky, skládá se tento kruh ze čtyř výsečí. Šev v pase je při nošení zakrytý opaskem.

FACTS 2016 [EVENT]
Weekend at FACTS 2016 was just great! Huge thanks to our friends from Rebel Legion Benelux Base for having us and for being fabulous companions not only during day at booth, but also in the evening at the bar. They entertained us together with our friends from Czech Republic, Silvara and Winring with whom we had great time as well.
Even though its a quite big convention, the atmosphere there still amazes me. So many nice people, so many people in different costumes and so many positive feedbacks on each costume! And the cosplay catwalk this year… Wonderful idea!
Of course we were there to get some comic books artists‘ signatures, because in Gent there’s always a fine assortment of these guys and girls. The most funny and interesting chats we had with Mr. Guéra, Mr. Texeira and those we already met in Berlin week ago S. B. Scott a Don Rosa.
Sure… I didn’t forget to haunt some actors too. 😉 The main focus was on David Hasselhoff so… Yes, I have a photo with him and Kitt. 🙂 But I also another Buffy actor, Nicholas Brendon. 😀 And I was pretty surprised by Sean Austin and his panel. He could talk for hours! And it was so nice to listen to him. Sooo many information about LotR shooting!
In short, this year’s FACTS was great again! As far as space is concerned, it was bigger, and I think it was even cooler.
FACTS 2016 [AKCE]
Víkend na FACTS v Belgii opět neměl chybu! Vřelé díky našim přátelům z Rebel Legion Benelux Base, že nám opět umožnili s nimi pobýt. Byli výbornou společností nejen přes den, ale i po večerech na baru. Spolu s parťáky z ČR Silvara’s Cosplay a Winringem, se kterými bylo milé zase jednou pořádně v klidu pobýt a pokecat.
Ač jde o velký con, tamější atmosféra mě nepřestává překvapovat. Tolik lidí! A přesto příjemných. Tolik lidí v kostýmech a tolik pozitivních ohlasů na jakýkoli kostým! Žádné zlé pohledy, žádné hejty, celé škály kostýmů různých kvalit, ale nošených se stejným nadšením. A letošní přehlídky na catwalku… Wow. Geniální věc!
Samozřejmě, že jsme opět primárně lovili komiksové autory, protože sbírka osobností v tomhle ohledu je v Gentu vždy neskutečná. V paměti mi nejvíc svými osobnostmi z podepisování a pokecu utkvěli pánové Guéra, Texeira a už z Berlína „známí“ S. B. Scott a Don Rosa.
A jistě… Ani o herce nebyla nouze. Hlavním „cílem“ byl David Hasselhoff, takže ano, mám fotečku s ním i Kittem. 😉 Pokračovala jsem v letošní Buffy krasojízdě a setkala se s Nicholasem Xanderem Brandonem. Víc v baru, jak na conu. Hold, bydlel ve stejném hotelu. A mile překvapil Sean Astin na svém panelu. Páni, takových informací o natáčení Pána prstenů! Navíc by se dal poslouchat hodiny.
Zkrátka, ani letos FACTS nezklamal. Co se týče prostor byl o něco větší, ale asi i skvělejší.
